Can I stay in my house while the floors are being sanded?

In many circumstances you can, however, depending on the products being used, it is generally safer to stay out until the final coating is dry.

If you have no option but to stay, we can generally accommodate those requirements if you let us know.

Is floor sanding the same as floor polishing?

Polishing a Floor technically refers to applying a sacrificial wear layer to a timber floor finish in order to protect it. This is not commonly used nowadays as most modern floor finishes do not require polishing.

What do you mean by the term ‘Floor Finish’

Floor Finish is a term used to describe the coating applied to the floor. There are many types of Floor finish all with their unique characteristics.

Some types of timber floor finish include, single or 2 part (commonly referred to as 2 pack) water based, solvent based, oil based or oil modified, alcohol based, tung oil, polyurethane, hard wax oil, dtains and many more. BDFS only uses the best quality products available to ensure an aesthetically pleasing and long lasting floor.

Do you have environmentally friendly options?

Yes we have a variety of options which are low in VOC (Volatile Organic Chemicals) and some natural oils.

I have a ‘floating’ or ‘laminate’ floor. Can it be sanded?

There are many types of floating and laminate floors. Generally, any with a solid surface more than a couple of millimetres thick it can be sanded.

How much does floor sanding cost?
